Hi everyone, I have an issue that is really bothering me. For some reason, my CPU runs 80%-100% most of the time, sometimes its normal but all of a sudden jumps to those numbers and makes the PC impossible to use well since it lags like crazy and gets very, very slow.

I have had run a Malwarebytes scan and I had no luck, updated some drivers and still same high usage. I am currently using Avira AV and Comodo Firewall, Avira found around 4 viruses and cleaned them 3 days ago, but still no good.

Right now I am running Windows update and getting some updates that say to solve Windows 7 issues so I hope that will help, but I don't know, last night I downloaded some updated and when the computer re-booted, the screen kept black and said "failed to download driver". Had to do a system restore via safe mode :/.

I tried to help my PC with Glary Utilities but no luck, only made the O.S boot a bit faster, but the CPU usage is still all messed up.

I would like to upload a screen capture, but I cannot since the damn CPU has the whole PC lagged and I barely can open a web browser.

Any help is much needed.

Specs:

Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate
Core 2 Duo E8400
4 GB RAM 1333
Mobo: Asrock G41-VMS3

EDIT: The CPU usage has been solved, it was a conflict with Avira AV and the Comodo Firewall, I also restored Windows 7 startup configuration with msconfig.exe. I uninstalled both of those programs and installed KIS 2014, everything is running fine and smooth now.

From my experience, I always have had issues with free AV programs whereas suites with Firewall and all never gave me this many issues.

Thanks for the answers.

Solution
The best you can do,Back up your main HDD, format it and install fresh windows. If its a software problem with a format you will fix the problem.

first of all run an antimalware test to make sure that this isn't it. Also defrag your hard drive. If that doesn't help then immediately back up everything because most likely your hard drive is dieing...
