You'll start a fight on forum :). I think you should consider games you want to play. AMD GPUs handle some games better than Nvidia's cards, other work better using Nvidia cards. I bought r9 GPU to go with my AMD processor, but to be honest, I had better experience using Nvidia GPUs. If you are still not sure, pick one AMD card and one Nvidia, and check detailed specs for each card and view some tests for those cards on youtube.com. That should help you decide.

R9 290 and GTX 780 are better performers, but at higher cost, then the GTX770.

The R9 290(especially Gigabyte - as cheap as a 770) is now cheaper than the GTX780. But Sapphire 290 is the best and costs the same as Gigabyte GTX780

So I'd tend to go for a R9 290 and probably a Gigabyte because of the great price.

I have a method to pick between equally performing products.
Go to newegg and find the candidates.
Filter on the most reviews.
Then look at what percent of the reviews have one or two eggs indicating some sort of a problem.

In the case pf a R9-280X, the most popular was the asus with 184 reviews of which 30% were 0 or 1 eggs.

An equally performing GTX770,, this EVGA unit was the most popular with 219 reviews of which 8% were negative with 0 or 1 eggs.

You can do the same test with any other cards, But I think you will come out of it picking a EVGA card.

sorry i was thinking the r9 280x.. is the r9 290x as cheap as the 770?

I really play only mmos so the graphics card will be able to play anything fine regardless, but down the road sort of thing is my thought from now how they will future proof.

AMD seems to be the more power for the dollar usually, but I have always gone with nvidia since like 2000 geforce 2 and i always hear the drivers on the AMD can sometimes be not as good

I am going with an i5 4670K for a new build on the processor just trying to put a vid card with it

Nvidia is more feature rich (Shadowplay, Shield, Physx, Txaa, Hbao+, Geforce experience,CUDA,GSync) and also cooler/quieter (Stock)

AMD is a better bang for the buck, better pure power.

I use Adobe products(Photoshop) daily so CUDA cores are very important to me. You really have to decide based on your use and budget.

It's good for people who don't want to mess with settings and drivers.
