Can I use an optical drive that was from 2004 on a new build?

I was scavenging through my basement to find an old computer that my father built during 2004. I have plans to build my computer this July once I get all my stuff at the lowest price possible during this time of season. My father's computer had two 5.25" optical drives which I think should work on the new computer, but I want to know if I should reuse those or buy a new one for 10-20$?
My build is here

Solution
Ok, that drive uses an IDE connector and your motherboard doesn't support IDE connections. Instead of dealing with adapters, I think it's easier to spend the $15-20 and buy a modern drive.

I am not sure if the optical drive has SATA connectors or not. The model is a Toshiba TOSD R1312
