As the title describes I can barely read text on this new as us LED monitor I've purchased recently. Ive made sure the resolution was correct and the refresh rate. I'm using a hdmi to dvi cable. For some reason especially on a white backround it's hurting my eyes to try and read it. It's not blurry. It seems to be something of the light from the monitor I think.

I have. I've literally done everything. Turned the brightness down. Turned the contrast down. Played with temp colors. It stays the same. My brain doesn't seem to like this screen. It's almost like I can't focus on it.

I haven't seen any options to invert colors on the monitor or graphics card. I've never had this problem with any screen before.

It could use a backlight your eyes don't like. I had a similar thing when I got a new monitor, I used to be able to see the flicker and get headaches from it, I eventually got used to it.

I don't believe it's a flicker that's bothering me because even at 100 % brightness on a LED the screen isn't flickering. I've tested that with the same problem. Not sure if it's the type of backlight. I use other LED screens with no problem. I on ipad 4 now and I'm fine. My laptop is also LED but I can actually dim it and have no problem reading text.

You can use magnifier to invert colours.

It occurs on a dark backround too, just not as bad. I was hoping to get to the bottom of the problem rather than work around it.

Is it small text? If so try changing the dpi settings.

I changed the text size to no avail. I actually returned a monitor with the same problem in the hopes that this one would be different. This is the third one I've tried. The original 27 inch samsung LED I had didn't seem to have this problem. So I'm kind of confused where the problem is.

try a new or different monitor cable. vga cables are the worse. hdmi or dvi/dvi-d cables are best.......... at the card and at the monitor...... ( totally bypass vga if possible )

Right now I'm using a dvi to hdmi cable. Resolution doesn't seem to be an issue. It's the backlight I believe. I've heard people say they get used to it, but I'm a bit afraid ill damage my eyes.

is there a setting in the monitors control panel that allows double the brightness.... mine is called X-contrast......... using it makes the monitor twice as bright as normal. turning that off helped alleviate some stress on my eyes for me.

There is but it's turned off so no issue there.

i don't know what browser you are using but somewhere in the settings there is an option to sub colors ( force ) for others ( as background ) over writing the default. so instead of a white background try a burnt yellow. you might have to try a different color for text.

My new LED monitor initially did too
Turning the brightness to 0 and contrast to 40 helped a lot. It came at an eye scorching 100% brightness

It is still a bit bright for my taste but I am mostly used to it. Increasing the brightness in the room also helped

not being funny........ if it's not isolated to this/your monitors.......... see an eye doctor.
