I would recommend a fx 6300 as the cpu as i3 is not good for gaming, or the I5 4670k is you have more cash. For the gpu, I would recommend a R9 270X which costs about the same as the 7950. The 270x performs around the same as the 7950, but is newer, so go with the 270x. The cx series power supplies use cheap capacitors so I would recommend a better quality psu

its not that the i3 cant game, its just THAT i3 Is the lowest (or one of them) clocked i3 of them all and it cant be overclocked at all. the FX 6300 would be much better in this case, especially with AAA titles being more and more threaded, until eventually DX12 comes out. then the 6 cores easily takes the cake.

your build is overall TERRIBLY unbalanced. why would you stick 2 cores with a beefy GPU like the 7950? get the FX 6300 and overclock it, or get the 8320. Or if you demand intel, cut some costs. get no SSD and get windows 7 over 8.1 . the i3 WILL hold that rig back.

How about this one?
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3M5D4

i like this new build more, but get the 270x like mentioned above, or the sapphire 280 (normal price 269.99) is 189.99 on newegg right now which is THE BEST DEAL YOU WILL FIND THIS MONTH.

for the same price or less you can get the ASUS M5a97 R2.0 which is the best 970 motherboard in my opinion. Corsair builder series isnt great, the only good Corsair units are the AX, TX, and HX line, otherwise try to get an Antec, XFX, Seasonic or Silverstone power supply (even 50W less from these brands would be better than a corsair). again windows 7 is cheaper than 8 and i like it more than windows 8. the next windows OS to be released will be worth my money, but not that 8.1 crap (made for tablets, 'updated' slightly to suck less on desktops).
scrape the SSD for now if it means being able to make these changes, and get it later and re install windows on it when you do.

I say get the ASUS motherboard so you can get a CPU cooler and overclock on it. That BIOstar i wouldnt trust personally, i can see the bare VRMs only partially heatsinked. When you want more performance you can pick up a HYPER 212 EVO CPU cooler to replace the one that comes with the FX 6300, then you can overclock safely to 4.5 GHz while still keeping cool in temperature ( i got Prime 95 stable with 4.6Ghz on my M5a97 r2.0 + FX 6300; i also think i won the silicon lottery with my chip because it overclocked so well)

I believe you when it comes to the corsair but can't find one that you recommended for my price range. the corsair cx500m psu got some pretty good reviews and its in my price range from newegg

Thank you for your help. I finished the build and this is what I came up with thanks to you.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3M7U5

I decided to keep the corsair since its semi modular and the people seem to like it. If I end up regretting this you bet your ass I'm gonna beat myself up for not listening to beezy
