My alienware laptop was kept offline for about 6 months. I charged it and tried to boot it up today, and it would not start up. Nothing would appear on the screen and it gave me a beeping error code. I looked up the error code and it could be three different things. Motherboard failure (please no), BIOs corruption, or something with the RAM.

All it did was sit there, nothing happened to it. What is most likely the problem?

Bios battery would be a good place to start. Other than that, we just need to start on the list and knock out the options one by one. You can test the RAM by swapping out a set. If you live near a computer parts store, just pick up a set of the same specs and return them when you are done. You can flash the BIOS to see if that fixes the possible corruption (You may need to google instructions for this, I have never done this with a laptop before, but with regular ATX motherboards, I know it as easy as moving a connection pin to a new slot for a few seconds). Lastly, if the first two options do not fix it, you may need to bring your laptop into a service center so they can test the motherboard.

Best of luck to ya - Sub
