Hi guys,

So basically I've been using Windows 7 for since it came out, but I decided it's time to upgrade to windows 8.1.

Anyway, I installed win8 on my ssd and everything seems fine, except the internet. For some reason, No matter what browser (tried Chrome, IE, Mozilla, waterfox, opera) i am able to search google, but when i click on link to a webpage, it'll load for ages then come up with an error message "webpage not available" and other variations depending on the browser.

If I restart, I can occasionally connect to a few webpages, but shortly after it does the same thing, there seems to be no set pattern.

Downloads seem to work fine aslong as I am able to start them, Torrents download as they usually would at normal speeds. But certain applications (msi live update for example) are unable to connect to the internet and return error messages.

Any installations that require internet connections seem to fail.
I just installed windows 7 on a seperate HDD and everything works fine.

BTW, I'm using wired ethernet connection, I dont have wifi

My network drivers are up to date aswell as everything else.

I'm at my wit's end, any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks guys

Not sure.

I had the same issue I believe and had to unplug my MODEM and ROUTER (may be a single unit). Probably the MODEM part is the issue. Anyway, when it booted back up it solved my issue.

It may be a handshaking issue with your Internet Service Provider.

WolfzillaPP,
I don't have any solution, but I'm here because I have the same problem exactly like yours, I'm have one HP Desktop All together, and my laptop, same ISP, laptop is windows 7 and HP Destop is windows 8.1, when you try to load a page it takes forever sometimes and then it says the messsage Wepage not available and then sometimes load the page and sometimes not. It's very weird, but I'm 99.9% sure that is windows 8.1 problem.

Did you find a solution?

Thank you
Ray

Hi ray,
Yes, i did find a solution, basixally it has something to do with your router/gateeay settings, somehow the router is blocking access to the internet.

I wasnt able to find the exact cause but i tried an old router of mine and after thar the internet worked perfectly.

I'm sorry im not able to give you more information but it definitley has something to do with the router being incompatible with windows 8. There must be somr way to fix it through the router settings but i had no idea which exact setting is causing the problem.

I hope this helps you find a solution.
Good Luck.

Ps if you manage to find the exaxt cause come back and let me know please.
Thanks
