i just figured out that i need to oc my rams because by default the motherboard sets them to 1333 instead of 1600 so i went into the bios, ai tweeker and set it to manual and then 1600, but there were so many other options like the timings and stuff like that that i didnt change, do i need to change them or should i just leave them as they are.

there's an ez mode and advanced mode, i set the xmp to profile 1 and in the advance mode i changed the frequency to 1600mhz and left everything else the same as u can see in the screenshot below

here's a screen shot of speccy's memory tab after the change: http://postimg.org/image/hk0fuwdib/

pc specs:
motherboard= asus B85M-E
cpu= i5 4670 3.40ghz
gpu= geforce gtx 760 windforce oc
ram= adata 16gb (2 x 8)

In that EZ mode you got right XMP with 1600MHz and CPU-Z shows 799.9 = 800 MHz which is actually 1600 so it's ok.
CPU, motherboard and also memory all are/support 1600MHz so there should be no problem. If you get more BSOD you can try to run some stability test for memory. On this site you will find plenty of topics about that.

If EZ mode offer you XMP with 1600 MHz don't change it anymore in advance just keep it at that.

If both your memory and motherboard both support XMP, just set right XMP profile (one with 1600 MHz) and let it be like that. No need to use advanced mode. If everything works how it should motherboard should take care of it and you should have nice 1600 MHz from now on.

But I'm not so sure if motherboard and your ram have XMP supported. There is nothing about XMP on asus site to that motherboard, but if you got option in bios you just try it with it and after that check for example with CPU-Z if you got 1600MHz (will list as 800 MHz in CPU-Z as it show real clock)

yea i got the xmp option available but the xmp profile is set to 1333mhz by default so i have to go to the advanced mode to change it to 1600mhz, i can take a couple of pics of the bios and how it looks like so u have a better idea of whats going on, would that help?

You should have second XMP profile there with 1600 MHz. If you do not have it your ram or motherboeard probably do not support XMP or your ram is not 1600 MHz rated so do not have profile for that speed. Ofc you can still overclock with advanced features but you can't know what will be result until you try.

so what should i do? im pretty sure both the rams are 1600mhz

here are the screenshots:
this is the ez mode http://postimg.org/image/ozk5bi3hn/
under the xmp i can choose between disable and profile #1, i chose profile #1

this is the advanced mode: http://postimg.org/image/tmrt31run/e2e21078/

and here's the cpu-z memory tab: http://postimg.org/image/cax6w1o71/

I just got a bsod page_fault_in_nonpaged_area, no idea if thats releated to the change of the rams or what
