Hi!
I recently helped a friend build a new computer. While we first booted it up and entered the BIOS, the temps increased dramatically until we decided to turn it off when it hit 80ºC. When we took the cooler off (Corsair h60), we noticed that the surface of the cooler wasn't completely touching the CPU. We reinstalled it several times until we gave up and used the stock intel Cooler. With this one the temperatures stabilized around 40-43ºC. Are these normal temps?
In my rig I have a i53570k @ 4.4ghz cooled also by the h60, and my Idle temps are around 36-41ºC. At load they one core reaches 78ºC, while another does not pass 68. Is this normal, or should I reaply my thermal paste?

Also, does anyone know if there is a solution for the por cpu cooler contact?
Thanks for your help!

Your temps appear normal. As for the difference in temperature they should be ROUGHLY similar if all the cores are being full stressed (i.e. Prime95). Maybe 5degC difference but I'm not certain.

However, if that's 78degC when fully stressed in Prime95 I wouldn't reapply the paste. That's a worst-case scenario so while you may drop a few degrees I don't think it's worth the hassle and small risk of damage to your motherboard.

Poor CPU cooler contact?
It sounds like you incorrectly mounted the cooler but it's hard to help from here. Maybe you should look for some videos or a better install guide to see if you made a mistake somewhere such as the backplate.

Thanks for the feedback! I have installed the H60 on two computers and I didn't find any problems during the installation. I heard that the cooler could be too loose due to the motherboard being slightly thinner than normal. Could that be the problem?
