Intel chipset driver for Z87 Pro

Hi,

Could some please tell me the difference between

Intel(R) Chipset Software Installation Utility V9.4.0.1026 for Windows 7/8/8.1 32bit & 64bit and

Intel Chipset Driver V9.4.0.1026 for Windows Win8.1 32bit & Win8.1 64bit.

I could find the Software Installation Utility on the Intel website but not the Chipset Driver. Is this

driver needed and is it Asus driver rather than Intel?

Thanks for any help.

To answer your question re the two chipset downloads, they perform different functions. Explained here:

There are also two chipset downloads on the Asus website and the explanation on the Intel page applies equally to the equivalent Asus chipset downloads. Use the Asus ones.

Basically, you only need to install the Chipset Software Installation Utility from Asus if it's a new Windows installation

If you are just updating existing chipset driver previously downloaded from Asus, you only need the Chipset Driver download.
