Hi guys,
I swapped the default 1G stick out for a 2G stick, and I'm getting random shut downs.
No BSOD, sometimes a restart and safe mode prompt etc.
Event Viewer says "Kernel Power" but I think this message can mean just about anything.

Memcheck/chkdsk both show no errors.

The intermittency suggests hardware fault.

I have monitored CPU temperature, and it does not seem to be related to the crashing.

I put the 1G stick back in for now. It seems fine.

Two main questions:
i) Is the 2G stick faulty (or incompatible?), do you think?
ii) Could it be that the 2G stick requires more voltage and is therefore causing some other component to lose power?

Any suggestions?

If the problem isn't occurring with your old ram it's probably safe to say that the ram is faulty have you tried putting the 2GB ram stick back in to see if it replicates the problem? did you make sure that the RAM is compatible with your system?
