HI

I have recently put a WD2500 internal drive in a computer. It has XP on it and works ok.

I am trying to put Windows 7 on it but get to the point where it asks "select the driver to be installed" I cannot get passed this stage.

Asus P5Q Pro
IDE DRDRW
IDE CD Rom
WD 2500 250gb HDD

I have plugged the HDD in the orange SATA connector on the mobo.

How can I get passed this stage please?

Solution
in windows 7 set up. you have to do the advance mode (f6) to pick the hard drive. when you do it find a drive with windows on it and ntsf format. you have to remove the xp ntfs partion and format the drive with fat 32. then reboot and let windows see the clean drive.

Yes. If I start the computer without the windows 7 disk in the CD drive then the HDD starts with the windows xp that is on it. I changed the boot order before trying to install from the cd and I've changed it back to boot from the HDD that's when xp starts and I know the drive is connected properly.
