Ive googled this question but there seems to be a lot of different answers. If i knew that it would of been this much trouble, i woudlnt of ever put Linux on to try it.

Ive read things about easybcd and something about fdisk in root? Im not too familiar with this stuff- just beign honest.

I was under the impression it was going to be as simple as putting the windows xp cd in and doing a clean install like i would normally do if i wanted to reformat.

oh so I can do that like I would normally do. OK, when i was searching how to do it....something about "GRUB" was mentioned. And something else about the windows cd not being able to see the linux stuff.

Why xp? well its all I have unfortunetely.

I got this computer in '09. I dont game on it anymore. Mostly web browsing and I have my projector hooked up to it to watch movies/shows. The big gripe I had with Linux is I downloaded whatever the reccomended Nvidia driver was for my video card. Turned on my reciever and projector, went into the Nvidia settings and it was way more confusing than it needed to be. On top of that my reciever wasnt getting any sound.

At least when i had xp, and able to download the driver from my cd...all I had to do was click 1 button to display to multiple displays. And had no sound issues.

With two (2) installations of U_12.04 on modern MW, I run winXP on my Celeron "science" box. It does everything I need easy-as-pie. Runs my sci-SW/HW and runs OPERA, OO, AVAST, FLASH, PROXOMITRON & ZONEALARM ... what else do you **need** ?? WinZip, Access-DB & a Linux emulator? Runs those too !!

Do you put mascara on the Mona-Lisa ?? ... hahahahaha ...Since nobody thought to write a 64-bit DOS (Linux ??) , then you might as well use 32+ XP and scr*w M$ whenever you can!

I get that XP does everything you need it to do. I run XP in a VM sometimes. I also have a couple of Linux VMs, and a Server 2008 and 2012 VM.

I also get that XP will get no further security updates. I would not consider using it for my main, connected to the internet, always on, PC.
If you're comfortable with that....go for it.

XP does not do everything *I* need it to do.

The issue between us is the level of polish/perfection hoped-for in a system that is **good enough** anyway. Kinda like ... if you need to explain to your mans "man" the difference between Tahitian and Australian pearl cuff-links ..... to be worn to your 16-yo daughters "coming out" dinner ..... then you have hired the wrong man.
