Fan LED suddenly dimmer

Hi everyone,

Until yesterday I've been using the Corsair 500R for my case. Last night I moved everything into my new Air 540.

I got the idea to pull the 2 front intake fans from the 500R and use them in push/pull for my rad and also to light up the inside of the case, now that I have this huge window. The 2 fans were perfectly bright when they were in the 500R. But now that they are in the Air 540 they are much MUCH dimmer, almost no light at all.

They are connected to the mobo headers as they have no molex connection from the factory. Would this have any effect on the brightness of the LED? On the 500R there is a molex connection for the fan controller, would that have been delivering more power to the fans and LEDs? That's the only conclusion I've been able to draw so far.

If this is the problem, what can I do to resolve it or should I just buy new fans?

Solution
Yes it would be the only issue I would think possible. The fan control was making the fans and LEDs ramp up power and give off more light, the mobo isn't making them work hard. Solution? If you have an h100i then use the two LEDs on the h100i fan splitter and plug them into the heat sink corsair link area and control them that way. If you can this would fix your issues because corsair link would allow you to control all 4 fans and speeds etc. hope this helps.

That is an excellent idea. My h100i came with 2 splitters but I can't seem to find the other one. I wonder if I can buy one by itself or if corsair would send me one.

They might send you one, I would call the number on the back and see what they say. Worst they can do is charge you for it. I was trying to see if I could find one for sale but calling might be the best and only chance to get it. Good luck

Good thing I always keep the boxes for parts. I just dug through and found the other splitter and it works perfectly. Thank you so much.
