Hello,
I recently had an update for intel HD graphics, I updated as I usually do when prompted for updates for drivers.
Since this has happened my PC won't boot while the graphics card is plugged in. As it's a new PC I am just doing a factory reset while I type.
If i go into the BIOS and disable integrated graphics then it work's but I cannot see the BIOS on screen.
I currently have it setup to use PCIe1 automatically
The Bios is updated, I removed the intel drivers too.
Everything was fine until this update.

I currently have...
OS - Windows 8.1
CPU- i7 4770k
GPU - R9 290
PSU - XFXpro750w
MOBO - Gigabyte Z87M-D3H
RAM -16gb Corsair Dominator

Thanks
Phil.

It should be getting enough power, you have a 750w power supply...Try putting the GPU into the other PCIE slot. On your motherboard it should be the slot labeled PCIEX4

It could be a simple mistake...make sure that your monitor is plugged into the graphics card and not the motherboard. Also you can reset the bios by taking out the motherboard battery and letting the PC sit unplugged for about 10 minutes.

hi, thanks for taking the time to reply.

I tried all of the above and still nothing, (I know its not right) if I connect the graphics card while the PC is on, it does change over to it and works perfectly until I restart the PC.
Very confused right now, I have decided to do the Super slow full reset as I didn't have a lot on the PC because it's brand new.. I will re install the card after this reset and see if it powers on. If not I'll send the whole PC back to the builders to find the solution.
I'm at 12% reset after about 1.5 hours so its going to be a long night :-D

Thanks again, Zemiak

Hi,
Sorry for the late reply, been so busy working.
Thanks for your reply
I couldn't do that as my case is the 350D and I don't have he room to lower the graphics card to the lowest PCIex slot. the R9 290 is quite a long card and the HDD slots get in the way. I didn't have the time to remove the mother board to try this either, This time of year is my busy period at work :-/
I Just ended up sending it back to the shop and they said the PCIEx1 had gone so they replaced the mother board.
So I think you were right. :)
Thanks a lot for your time again, Zemiak

Dude don't take this the wrong way but I love you! I just spent the past hour cursing and swearing and thinking I'd broken my build. I had the lcd plugged into the on board graphics instead of the card. *facepalm*
