So I am wondering, if I have a monitpr with 60 hz refresh rate, there aren't any benefits from having a system running games at more than 60 FPS. Or am I wrong?

More about : refresh rate fps

Well it will mean there is less likely to be drops below 60 and also it shows that your computer is easily handling the game.

Ok, then it's better to put some FPS limit in the .cfg so that FPS is overall more stable?

Use Adaptive VSync if you have a Nvidia card.

I just bought a GTX 770 yesterday :)  Mmh I don't know well what you are talking about, "Adaptive VSync"? What does it do?

It varies the refresh rate according to your FPS.
To enable it:
1. Open Nvidia Controll Panel
2. 3D Settings > Manage 3D settings
3. Global Settings > Scroll down list
4. Set Vertical sync to "Adaptive"
5. Apply

do not use v-sync in any form, adaptive is not working to improve much, use a games fps cap and set to refresh rate of monitor thats the best thing you can do in almost any game.

Thanks for the tip, glad to see such setting allowed by Nvidia.

I'll do some testings with both solutions and will choose which one is best. Thanks.

That still won't get rid of most screen tearing.
He'd be better off enabling vsync and capping at 58 fps to reduce input lag.
