Hey guys im upgrading my pc from an old dual core pentium and want to know if a xeon cpu will be any good for recording rendering and gaming. I have 5gb ddr3 1333mhz ram and a gtx560. Could i use the xeon for gaming rendering and recording?. Im on a tight budget so any cheap recommendations would be great thanks.

Thanks

With a GTX 560 you could always get an i3 4130/4150+ instead and then upgrade later.

Xeon processors are nothing but i5/i7 but are highly binned and yeah like Gylzan said, it usually costs less. A Xeon CPU with a discrete GPU is good for gaming. Why go for GTX 560, get at least GTX 660 or GTX 660ti. Not that you can't use GTX 560 with Xeon but they are outdated.

I bought what i thought was a hd7770 online turned out to be a gtx560 :) so im gonna keep it until i can upgrade but want a decent cpu to use for gamign im on a tight budget so thought of getting a xeon could i get one of them lgga771 to lga775 mods online and keep my motherboard and ddr3 ram or do i need a new mobo also ?

I can get an i3 2100 for 60 euro in ireland and motherboard for 40 would i be better to get that and upgrade to an i5 at christmas time ?

If you got the i3, you could then upgrade up to an i7 3770 in the future (and of course an i5), and that is a newer socket than 775. Go with that if I were you.
