I built my own computer a few months ago using the AMD FX 8350. I did not purchase an aftermarket cpu cooler at the time but i think i ought to now. I did a little digging and came across a few articles recommending the Cooler Master Hyper 212 evo. I also heard that it is rather large. I have a atx mid tower that is about 7 inches in width and was wondering if there was any smaller alternatives to that cooler that would still be a quality and sufficient choice. Im really looking for any improvement over the stock cpu cooler i am using now. I am still new to this, so i would appreciate friendly and honest advice on the subject.
Thanks!

P.S. I do not overclock and really only do light/ moderate gaming

I believe the 212 EVO requires ~ 158mm height allowance. Your case documentation should tell you the tallest cooler it will allow. If not, you can probably find the info on the net, or tell me the mae/model of your case and I'll see what I can find.

You may want to look at Noctua low-profile coolers as well.
