I am experiencing a crashing issue when playing newer or more graphically stressing video games (Skyrim, Tropico 4). I can play Minecraft and older games no problem. I dont get a blue screen error, my computer just restarts. I built my computer about 2 years ago and just upgraded my GPU in November 2013. This problem started occuring ever since I got the got it. I assumed it was a PSU problem, i had an old 430w thermaltake and recently upgraded to a 500w evga. These are my current computer specs.

CPU - AMD Athlon II X3 460
GPU - Nvidia GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost
Motherboard - MSI 760GM - P23(FX)
RAM - DDR3 8GB, 2 4GB sticks.
OS - Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit
PSU - EVGA 500W 80 Plus Bronze

This is my first time being able to address this question online, due to lack of internet where I am currently living. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Your motherboard says that it can only handle a 95W CPU, your CPU is just on that limit which would put great stress on it. Also is says the motherboard was not designed to use 'heavy bum' tools, when you play games it uses 'heavy bum' stuff/tools to give you the best experience which again puts stress on the motherboard.

SUMMARY: The problem is likely your motherboard, as it was not designed for gaming, too fix this upgrade your motherboard to a board that can handle more.

Hope this helps!

EDIT: Also your motherboard says it can only handle 1024 MB of graphics memory and your graphics card has at least 2000 MB, the reason why you can run older games is because they require less than 1024 MB because they are less demanding...

EDIT: Also your motherboard says it can only handle 1024 MB of graphics memory and your graphics card has at least 2000 MB, the reason why you can run older games is because they require less than 1024 MB because they are less demanding, so on games like skyrim they would require more than 1024 MB to give you a good experience. This is likely why it crashes. Also to fix this either get a less powerful graphics card (not recommended if you want to play games) or get a motherboard which can handle more!

And again I hope this helps!
