Before i get into the details, here are my current specs.

Motherboard: MSI A78M-E35 FM2+ / FM2 AMD A78 (Bolton D3) HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard

Psu: corsair cx430w

Ram: 1x4gb vengeance blue

Graphics: MSI AMD Radeon HD 7770 1GB GDDR5 DVI/HDMI/DisplayPort PCI-Express Video Card R7770-PMD1GD5

Cpu: AMD Athlon X4 AD750KWOHJBOX 100W 3.4Ghz Processor

Harddrive: western digital black 580gb (got it from my last computer, not the best)

Basically i am a newbie at both computer building and these forums, and i was wondering if i have a budget of about 300$, would it be better to get a radeon hd7950 and corsair cx600, or to invest in a better cpu and get another stick of ram as well?

I have no idea on how my motherboard fares, is there cause for a new motherboard as well?

Essentially, for 300$, what upgrade could i make that is most benificial for gaming? Thanks alot guys, and sorry if i say things in a different manner than usual or if i miss anything.

Solution
Cx600 should be enough, cx500 will also be okay but you should stay on the safe side with the cx600 or else get the XFX Pro Core Edition 550w(the best option) made by seasonic ~50usd.

Completely forgot about crossfire, that would make me feel a bit better about spending the money.... Would a cx600 have enough power to run crossfire, or could i even get a cheaper cx500?

Well that certainly sounds like a bargain.... I like this idea so far haha. How much more power could i expect to get from this? Enough to run bf4 on ultra? (Not that im expecting that, lol)

I mostly want the upgrade so i can mod skyrim and get some good lighting, textures, better polygons ect.

Hmm. So when i looked up the crossfire capabilities with the r7 260x, i found that it could only work with very specific cards, and the hd7770 was not compatible atleast from what i searched.

Besides this, the total including the power supply ends up being around 370$.

I was able to find a hd 7950 for 200$ refurbished or used, when purchased with the 550w you mentioned thats only 250$.

Would this be a viable option instead, or perhaps i looked up the wrong models?

Once again im not sure if a cpu upgrade would be needed or if i could find a better card or solution, the 7950 just tends to be what is recommended for an upgrade over the 7770.
