I have an i5 - 4430 and a gtx 770 gigabyte stock clock

Lets say i'm standing on the road, i'll get 33 fps at 1440p, then i will switch to 800x600(GabeN my eyes!) and it will stay at 33fps. I do have vsync off as far as I am concerned. Just terrible performance. Lowering settings does improve performance, but nt the resolution.

More about : gta performance matter resolution

GTA IV is one of the most poorly optimized games on PC. It was a really shoddy port. Usually if you make those changes and the framerate doesn't improve, it means you are CPU-bound, but that processor is more than capable of (in theory) running this game without any issues whatsoever. I say "in theory" because this game is so terribly optimized for PC, even people with top of the line i7's and 780s have trouble with it. Although 33 FPS does seem pretty low, I remember I got roughly 50 with my Gigabyte 770 and FX-6350. I would think yours would be better if anything.

I would just chalk this one up to a bad port. Unless you have performance issues on other games, just don't worry about it.

don't let the fps fools ur mind. if there is no lagging, thats fine.

i play that game too, only on a laptop with i5-3210m CPU and GT 630M gfx and I max all settings out. There is small lagging i admit but its fine for me.

Try MaxPayne 3, its also a R* game and its much better optimized than GTA4. Or u could wait for Watchdog which will come out in late May.

I can notice the difference between 30fps and the 110 I play most games at. I think you're letting the console peasants get to you.
