I have been using my Qosmio x505 for 3 years. Every year I clean the laptop and change thermal paste. Last month i have changed the fan and cleaned everything but now i cant play games, when i do stress test, cpu and gpu go up to 105 degree and automatically shutsdown. Everything is clear no dust, new fan new thermal paste, but why 105 degree???

More about : okey 105 degree

maybe applied too much thermal paste it can have a bad effect you only need a very small amount

I think it is because of the windows 8.1

That is very unlikely, if not impossible.

Maybe you didnt connect the changed fan? Check if its working and also check if cpu/gpu heatsink is seated correctly

ofcourse it is connected and they seated well, I think heatsink itself went bad or there is a problem with motherboard

I would say its an improperly placed heatsink if it heats up very fast. Having 1 or more corners unbalanced in terms of pressure can do that.

Another thing to look at is to see if any fans spool up faster as the CPU heats up. If they stay at slow speeds as the temperature goes up, that would be bad as well.

I dont imply anything but sometimes when you open up a labtop its very easy to forget something or dont close up properly. 99% is the heatsink not seating correcly or thermal paste too little or too much (too much is worse) or the fan going bad or not work at all. The heatsink going bad is a no go as the heatsink is just metal..
Either way the cpu cooler seems to not working properly. If you want to rule out windows , which is very very unlikely and impossible, boot to bios and see the temps there. If the temps are high its not windows and its something with the cooling or hardware. If the temps are low then it must be some feature of windows or windows itself.
Groveling_Wyrm also said that maybe the fan is not spinning as it should which is also a solid idea.
Say... when you say 105 degrees you mean celcius or farenheit? :)

I wish it would be fahrenheit)) if fan is not spinning as it should be how it can be solved? (please do not say speedfan)

I doubt it but try to see if there is any option in the bios for the speed of the fans.
If not then its a bad fan which is also very unlikely because fans either work or not.
There is also a possibility that a program is controlling the speed of the fan, maybe a program that you installed and you forgot about it. If you boot in safe mode does it heat up and restart also?
Try using prime95 in safe mode

bios even doesnt show the temperature there is no section about temp,
today i dissembled and turned on laptop, both fans are working and when i use prime95 speed of fans are increasing,
I tried to use prime95 in safe mode but it doesnt open it says "Drive not loaded"

Yes it wont start with this way my mistake.
On windows search, type 'msconfig' and press enter
Then on the general tab select diagnostic startup and press ok. Then restart the pc and then try prime95.
If it doesnt heat up like before maybe a hidden programm is controlling the spin of the fan.
Thats all i can think of. Maybe if dean and sam winchester could take a look... :)

when i use the prime95, 100 CPU load, toshiba health monitor show that only 70% of the fan working, and it is not increasing, can you suggest something to increase the speed to 100%

Finally solved)) just decreased processor power (from power setting) to 90% and temperature dropped to 80C in full load)))

Is your system cooling policy set to active in power options?

yes exactly, now there is a only way to prevent heating is decreasing the processor power, and still do not know why heating while using the full power of laptop, maybe cpu and gpu are getting old...
