7.1 in some programs 2.1 in other programs settings

All the 7.1 is upmixing(The headset only has 2 speakers it is a virtual surround sound) and it is applied to all sound for the headset. Unfortunately, I think you are stuck with it.
On normal speakers Skype would be 2 channel anyway even with a game being surround sound.
I am kind of surprised that it does not just ignore 2 channel audio streams(pass them without creating virtual surround sound), but it must be how that particular setup works.
