Hello, I just ordered my i5 4670k and Gigabyte Z87-HD3 for my new build and I am now looking for RAM. I was originally thinking about the Corsair Vengeance 2x4GB but quickly realized all of these models are clocked at 1600MHz where as I could get G.Skill Sniper series clocked at 2133MHz

I am leaning towards these sticks but I read that they come clocked at 1600MHz and you have to manually OC them to the rated 2133MHz, is this true? Also, do you think these are a good choice?

Solution
Any DRAM you get, ANY, will start up at the mobos default, generally 1333 on Z87 mobos, You then go into BIOS enable XMP and select profile 1 and that's it.....normally with some may need a slight CPU OC at 2133 and up....Most all 4670Ks can carry 1866 at stock and quite a few can run 2133 without OCing the CPU....
Be careful. Fast ram adds very little performance. Core overclocking is so much more important. Remember, overclock the cores as much as you can, then see if you can speed up the ram. To save a lot of money, just get some 1866 ram. It can be had for about the same price and is faster. Try to get low or no heat spreader so you will have plenty of room for the CPU cooler.

Also will I have to manually OC this as well? Or does it come clocked at 1866
