Steel_Nugget :
So I have seen sales of GTX 680 Classifieds for $600-$800, when a GTX 780 is around $500. So I know a GTX 680 Classified is faster then a GTX 770, but why would anyone buy a GTX 680 for the price of a GTX 780 Ti? Or do these items never get bought? I do know that GTX 680 SLI would beat a GTX 780 Ti, but not worth spending more money for a more power hungry, extremely expensive PC that only gives you 3 more FPS, or is it?
Not buying a GPU just thought this was odd.
Thanks for any responses I get!
Firstly, a GTX 680 isn't faster than a GTX 770, a GTX 680 Classified faster than a reference GTX 770 maybe. A GTX 770 is basically a GTX 680 however Voltage limits have been risen as well as clock speeds. A GTX 770 Classified will outdo a GTX 680 Classified.
A GTX 680 Sli could beat a GTX 780ti depending on how it's scaled. IF you do a GTX 680 sli vs a 780ti in 1080p than the 780ti because xfire/sli doesn't scale good at low resolutions. As the resolution increases the scaling gets better and so the 680sli begins to outdo the 780ti, all in all. SLi/Xfire is only worth the trouble/money if your going to do multi-screen setups otherwise a single card can suffice.
I realise the question is answered but I just thought I'd let you know these things to save you from doing something you'd regret
