Windows 7 Aero lag (moving windows is choppy)

I have a Alienware x51.
Here is my story.
So it came with windows 8.1 but I wanted windows 7. I switched out my hard drive and installed windows 7 x64 on it. Then I noticed that when ever i have more then 2 windows open it lags.
The windows frame rate is very low and the windows start skipping around when I move them.
Here are some specs.
Windows 7 x64
Intel i74770k cpu
Geforce GTX 760
16 GBs of DDR3 ram

You may have a rogue process (spyware, adware, malware). Check your task manager.

To expand on the previous poster, go to Performance tab in task manager and look at CPU usage at idle (with no programs running). IT should be very minimal, just about flat zero. If it's high that's an indication there's something running in the background (possibly malware)

Nope this is a brand new hardrive. I checked the task manager and there wasn't much running

I checked task manager. Nothing odd. Only 1% cpu being used
