I am receiving an error when I try to update to Windows 8.1 It says "We couldn't update the system reserved partition."

I have a 240GB SSD which hosts W8 and a few games, with 33GB of space left, which should be more than enough. I also have a 1TB HDD which has programs on it.

Solution

Use Disk Management to check for your System Reserved Partition, should be 350 Mb at start of disk. If you installed Windows 8 to your SSD and it was already partitioned, you may not have a System Reserved partition on your SSD and the Boot data may be installed on another drive if you had one connected during installation.

It may also be possible that your System Reserved partition is too small, in which case it can be extended using Easeus Partition Master...Check to see how much free space it has...
