Welp. In about a month I'll be graduating. Meanwhile college sales galore.
Currently I just game and have a tendency to mod hard if it gives me the option (Kerbal Space and TES). I also emulate ps2/wii sometimes.
However I'm looking towards programming/engineering as careers and I might do video editing/photoshop for fun since they seem to be nice skills to pick up on the side.

As a note, I'm currently working with an old 2009 ASUS laptop with Intel t9600 core2duo @ 2.8 with an NVIDIA GTX 260m, so this is gonna be one hell of an upgrade.

I'm also buying all at once, albeit the cpu and mobo will be picked up.

Budget: ~700-800 USD, 750 USD counting taxes, PA sales tax is .06

Part Preferences: Intel, Nvidia. However Amd pricepoints are amazing, but I'm not fond of the GPU drivers.

Merchant preferences: Amazon, Newegg, Microcenter

Usage: Gaming, server hosting(for games), watching stuff, word processing, general

Overclocking: Eventually, I'm looking towards the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo, but I'm opting for additional case fans instead

CPU: Intel i5-4670k @ 190 USD Microcenter (Combo)

Processor

MOBO: MSI Z87-G41 PC Mate ATX LGA1150 @ 100 USD including 15 USD MIR Microcenter (Combo)

Harddrive: Using old Seagate 300 GB from my laptop, still runs strong/okay somehow, but I'm looking towards the Seagate 2TB that's typically at 80ish USD if budget permitting

GPU: MSI 2GB 750 TI @ 125 USD including 20 USD MIR Newegg

Solution
The CX units use cheap capacitors that fail easier when subjected to heat than other quality capacitors.

The r7 260x is as weak as the 750ti or worse. I would never pair an i5 with anything less than a gtx760. Otherwise lower the CPU down and get a better GPU. For a gaming machine you want to spend 2x the CPU budget on the GPU.

You could go AMD and get an 8320. This will help with your video editing alot.
