Hello, I have a DFI LanPartyUT nF4 SLI-DR . I just changed it in a new case and I have doubts related to the power connectors. In the motherboard's manual to the "Power Connectors" chapter it is mentioned about the 24-pin connector (this is clear - it should be connected to the power supply), about the 4-pin +12V connector (clear as well - to be connected to the power supply). But there are mentioned also a HDD-type and a FDD-type connectors and I dont understand: should they be also connected to the power supply ( I mean, have they a power IN function) or are they on the motherboard AS power supply for some devices ( I mean a power OUT function)?
Thank you!

Aha - I'm back. Sorry - Tom's maintenance upgrade wiped out all my tracked therads then relaoded back over 500 of them. Took a while to find you again.

Whart it looks like to me is that p50 shows a FDD connector and p55 shows 2 x IDE HDD connectors. Now any sane person wouldn't be using any of those. As I said, no-one uses Floppy Drives any more. And no-one uses IDE HDD's any more - they are all SATA now. And on p60 it shows where you can plug in a Molex (4 pin) connector I gather to supply the power for FDDs or IDE HDDs if you want to use them.

Do you want to use IDE DD and/or FDD? If so, plug the power into the Molex connector and polug data (ribbon) cables into the FDD and/or HDD connectors.

If you don't want to use either, then...

From my mobo manual (page 58, easy to find it on the net): "The HDD-type and FDD-type power connectors are additional power connectors.
If you are using two graphics cards, we
recommend that you plug power cables from your power supply
unit into the two 5V/12V power connectors. This will provide more
stability to the entire system. The system board will still work even if
the additional power connectors are not connected." I found them, I see them, so I repeat my question: should I connect them to the power supply? If yes - why should my mobo take power via HDD-type and FDD-type power connectors if already has an input from the 24-pin & 4-pin power connectors? If not, then why are they on the mobo (what's their purpose)?
Is anyone who could give me a precise answer? I dont want to burn my mobo even if it's old...

i7Baby, please read what I changed in the text upper.

Yes, I have a FDD just for fun, even if I have also USB memory sticks. But my question was not at all about how to connect my FDD to the power supply (it is already connected now), but about the FDD AND HDD-TYPE POWER CONNECTORS FROM MOBO...

I gave you in my previous post the exact text from the motherboard manual, starting with "The HDD-type and FDD-type power connectors are additional power connectors ..." (on the motherboard). So I have no ideea what are you saying about data connectors as long as my question was very precise about those POWER connectors. Please read carefully again my edited post (the second one, with quotas), because your answer didn't ...answer at all to all I asked there about WHAT to do with those two power connectors (as the manual call them).

If you don't want to use either, then just use the SATA connectors to got to your optical drives, SSDS and or HDDs. Those items will also need to have their own separate power connections from the power supply.

I dont need to use IDE, I dont need to connect Floppy (it is already connected in its place, with power directly from power supply). All my SATA divices are in place and connected ( data +power ).
My question was ONLY about page 61 from the manual refering to the "5V/12V power connector FDD-type" and "5V/12V power connector HDD-type" - should they be connected with power cables to the power supply?
I think you understood bad my question until now - i am not asking where to connect some extra devices, I am asking about two "slots" from the motherboard, if they need to be connected to the power supply (THE MAINBOARD, not a floppy). Please read again the page 61 and look on the diagram from the same page.
