Upgraded to Windows 7, looking for good memory suggestions to upgrade.

I have 4 gigs of ram, now I've upgraded to Windows 7 which is more resource intensive I figure it couldn't hurt to get a bit more, especially since I do things like render videos in Sony Vegas Pro.

I'm thinking 8 should be fine, unless there's some amazing 16 gig deal somewhere, here's my motherboard and previous RAM info.

I'd look for a 2x4GB set of 1600/9, something like the GSkill Snipers or Ripjaws (either the plain old Ripjaws or the Ripjaws X)

Ebuyer has some nice reviews on those, they'll definitely work with my P7P55D-E LX? I really don't know what to check for when it comes to motherboard compatibility.

Primarily a freq your CPU can handle, with a decent CL and DRAM that the mobo can handle...1156 can handle faster than 1600, but generally it involves OCing the CPU...Both the RJs and the Snipers work well with the socket

Ah okay then, well my processor is "Intel Core i5 750 2.66GHz Socket LGA1156 8MB L3 Cache", if that's not a problem I'll go ahead and get one of the ones you suggested, thanks

Sticks arrived today, installed no problem.. Windows 7 is showing the correct number. Apparently I'm really dumb and forgot we have four RAM slots... so I didn't even take the Kingston out and now have 12 gigs of ram.

I'm not going to run into any issues doing this am I? I don't know if you can have different makes of ram to mix and match? If not then, 12 gigs is lovely.

Also does it matter where they're placed? OR should both the Kingstons be next to each other, and same for the Ripjaws?

They're both DDR3, both 1600mhz and both CL9, but I don't know exactly what the Kingston's four numbers for CL9 is.

Well they seem to be, and like I said they're recognised fully. I don't suppose there's a RAM performance application or anything just for my paranoia/curiousity?

Win itself has it's memory diagnostics, there's Memtest86, or just use it, play games or do whatever and see if any problems pop up, if so give me a shout
