I was looking through newegg and noticed this but wondered is it a lack or is 4k monitors at that price point the way to go? I mean I run a radeon 280x and most people say you need a more powerful card for full settings and hiher frame rates and 4k would be somewhat lower fps then setting a 4k monitor to 1440 or does not usig native resolution on a monitor matter?

It isnt as much of LACK as it wasnt a mainstream standard. 1080p monitors could be sold widely and pretty cheaply, and 1080p is widely accepted hence there is a lot of product, 1440p/1600p really werent, hence not having as many dispalys. 4k is moving toward being the new 1080p so there will be a lot more displays, I highly doubt that we'll see decent 4k displays for under 500$ for at least another year perhaps longer.

At this point waiting a bit and buying 4k will be better, as it will be a new standard, HOWEVER 4k does require a lot of money invested into GPU/s to make sure you can game without problems.

Depends on the game but high settings, most likely not, to run high-ultra 60fps you'll need 780ti sli at least
