Okay my motherboard is m5a99fx pro r2.0 and it has 4 PCI x16 I'm going to be having 3 amd 7970s oc edition but does putting into the motherboard have to be left to right it's because when I put my 2nd card it's going to cover the 3rd PCIx16 so then would It be fine if I put my 3rd gpu card into the 4th PCIx16 would it still be a 3 way crossfire?
Can I skip a PCIx 16 so I can use a 3 way crossfire

Well that depends on the motherboard. Just because you have four mechanical x16 slots does not mean they are all electrically x16. You did not say but if this is for gaming I would not go over dual Crossfire you will really not benefit much if at all with going with 3 way Crossfire for gaming.
