I have 2 different clients one has a Dell server running server 2003 that has randomly rebooted over the weekend and is stuck in some odd hibernation mode. I checked the power setting and everything is set correctly, I checked the UPS it is operating normally. I checked event viewer and found event ID 6008 I check for more of that ID and found these dates and times.

5/12/14 6:70am power off, 8:29am power on
5/05/14 6:07am power off, 8:29am power on
4/28/14 5:07am power off, 8:20am power on
4/26/14 8:07am power off, 10:45am power on
3/08/14 7:70am power off, 10:38am power on
3/02/14 12:07am power off, 6:50am power on

I checked the logs to see what the server was doing right before those times, and it was checking for adobe flash updates. So I removed adobe flash to see if that would fix the issue. The server would also wake up with no problem, but it takes about 15 minutes.

But this morning I had another client with two Dell 580 desktops that were both stuck in some odd hibernation more. The power light on each was blinking orange like it was in hibernation mode, but the keyboard nor mouse would wake the computers up. I tried holding in the power button to turn the off but neither would turn off so I had to pull the plug. Both computer powered on just fine so I checked event viewer on them and I found ID 6008 with these times.

Computer A 5/17/14 11:19pm power off
Computer B 5/17/14 11:21pm power off.

Both of those computers were doing adobe flash updates before as well.

I ran Dell diag on them all and it found no errors.
