Hi,

Finally got my PC back from the shop today to find out that to get it working they have had to limit the i7 4770k to 1 core and 1 thread, with hyper-threading turned off, plus some other restrictions in order to get the computer to be stable on my Asus Maximus vi Impact. Then they charged me £300 for the privilege. So not only is my i7 completely hobbled I have a computer which isn't worth the money I've payed out. Does anyone know if this is a motherboard issue or a CPU issue? Or if i've been really unlucky and had a bad CPU, Mobo and Ram all on my first build!

I have already swapped the ram from corsair vengeance pro 1866mhz to crucial billistix 1600mhz, at extra cost, just to get the computer to boot to windows. I don't want to throw anymore money at this. So if there isn't a simple fix i'll be returning what I can and selling the rest on ebay!

Thanks

The parts were all bought separately, I only took it to the shop as a last resort. I did flash the bios of the board, updating the bios to 1402 using the USB bios flashback function of the Asus Impact. But with no luck.

I have subsequently returned the motherboard to amazon for a refund and am considering selling or returning all the other parts and getting a pre built system instead!

Anyone want to buy a MSI R9 290X Gaming OC edition!?!? :D
