Go for 770gtx SLI or wait for 8XXgtx

Hello, I'm new to the forums and I apologize in advance for the poor formatting of my first post.

So I am giving my power supply away to a friend and was thinking it might be a good time to go for an SLI build since the power supply is the only thing holding me back on the hardware side.

My Questions are: What issues am I likely to run into if I chose to buy the slightly different 2nd card? Will having two different cards be more of a hassle then it worth and should just wait for 8XX to come out? My motherboard says it would be running both cards at 8x/8x PCI 3.0 from what I understand this shouldn't be a problem but confirmation would be nice.

- My Current Card, has a lower core/boost clock by about ~100 MHz and I don't know how that will effect the build.

-The closest card that I could find, seems identical except with a 100MHz factory OC on core/boost speeds.

Thanks for any answers, ideas and comments.
(Any recommendations on a power supply would also be appreciated, I'm thinking something 850w+ with a budget of up to 200$)

I would say go for it. You can always OC your original card. You're still running the same GPU (770), same VRAM (4GB), so you shouldn't have any real issues. If you have excess money, and can afford to get the new PSU, and two 870s right off the bat, then you could wait. Although it could be a while until aftermarket coolers for the 870 come out as well.

Not knowing the exact model of your motherboard, and taking your word for it, two GPUs running at x8/x8 is perfectly fine. The performance difference between x16/x16 is still pretty small, an the only way you'd be getting that many (or more) x16 lanes is if you're buying an Extreme series motherboard for Extreme seriesCPs.

I personally use a Corsair AX860 for my SLI 780s, so I'd...

Yeah, I have a MSI Z87-G45 Motherboard it says that it runs at 8x/8x/4x running with a overclocked i5-4570k and 8GB Gskill Trident 2400mhz ram. I'm a computer tech in a small town and just haven't had much experience with computers that were running sli setups, the few I have were always identical cards bought at the same time.
Thanks for answer, and the info on the power supply also.
