Current system:

CPU: FX8350 @ 4.2GB
DDR3: 16GB G SKILL 1600 MHZ
MB: ASUS M5A99FX R2.0 PRO
GPU: GIGABYTE GTX770 4GB OC EDITION
PSU: CORSAIR CX850M
SSD: SAMSUNG 840 PRO 256GBP
HDD: SEAGATE 500GBP 720

After market cooler is a Cooler Master Vortex and 4 x 120mm case fans.
Monitor is a 40in 1080p led tv.

My CPU usually runs at 50-60C under gaming load at about 35% CPU usage while the GPU runs around 50-70C at about 60-90% GPU usage. I can max out most games and this system rocks. Totally happy with it. However, It struggles to max out games like Crysis 3, AC4BF and Mechwarrior Online. I intend to add another monitor of the same type as my current screen as well as a second GPU.

Here are my questions:

1. What is the relationship between the CPU and SLI cards? How do they communicate?

2. Does having two GPU's mean the CPU is having to work twice as hard?

I understand how SLI works but I have not been able to read any material on how the CPU works with the two cards.

3. Does the CPU communicate with both cards or do the GPU's talk to each other and then a "master" GPU is in charge of working with the CPU?

I would like to now how my current systems load on the CPU will change after adding the second card. That is the reason for my research. I would hate to spend $400 to find out that my CPU will melt down with a second card.

Thank you for any info you may provide.

Is this topic not worthy of an answer? Did I ask some stupid questions?

You will be fine.

Even though this doesn't have to do much with your second GPU that you are looking to get. I recommend getting a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo to cool you CPU since your current cooler is not that good.

haha the 8350 will do a fantastic job running those cards just saw it running two 780ti cards great and you have a very good mobo your fine. The cpu does feed the cards but for 99% of games the 8350 will do great. at 1080p its actually overkill
