Hey guys I was wondering if you could tell me if this would work or not:
My HDD is crashing on my laptop, but through a linux livecd I was able to retrieve any files I needed. I've got a new SSD coming in the mail, and was wondering if it would be possible to install a clean version of windows 7 on the new disc using the product key on the underside of my laptop?
I've followed instructions from lifehacker to download a vanilla version of Windows 7 for a clean install. The thing is, though, these directions were inferring that you would be using the same HDD. I'm not sure what PC components the Windows Activation looks for, so I was wondering if anyone knew if this would work correctly if I proceed to attempt this, or if it would be a waste of time?
Thanks in advance!
