Hello guys, I'm new in this comunity and I know most of you know what you are doing, so I have a question or a problem I'm having for you.

When I play game, my gpu gets hot (thats pretty normal) and it gets to about 70 C without ramping up the fans (also normal), but when the gpu gets hot my screen flicker (not normal). it has horizontal lines going up and down the screen.

this is my new grphics card that i have bought at the beginning of april. this flickering problem doesnt happen only during games, but when gpu is really hot, like when using MSI kombustor

i didnt have this problem on my previous gpu, and im sure that its not the monitors fault.

i can try connecting the monitor to intel hd 4600 to see if it is the monitor, but i doubt it.

do you know how to fix this problem?

hardware:
monitor - philips 241e1sb
graphics card - asus gtx 760
mobo - rampage vi gene
cpu - i5 4670k
im using a vga connection (vga to dvi-d adapter on graphics card)
my monitor doesnt have any other connections

if it would help, i can provide pictures of the monitor and flickering

i hope we solve this :D

VGA is an analog signal, while DVI and HDMI are digital signals. In short terms, the thing doesn't cut it any more in current generation of display. The quality of your cable is a factor, however I'd still switch to HDMI, considering you have a fairly powerful PC and you likely to play on 1080p+. VGA won't produce as sharp display as DVI or HDMI will on high res. Basically getting a new monitor might be a solution to your problem, also will pay off in the long run too.

I have conducted that this is not a monitor problem, but a gpu problem. this flickering happens when the gpu is hot. i have tested the screen on my pc (with the gpu) and on my laptop with msi kombustor. it seems that the flickering is created only when my monitor is connected to the pc (due to hot gpu).

temps of the gpu when in full load are 62-65 with highs of 73.
when it is 73 C, it stays there for a while

Your temp is fine, you'd consider 90c as hot, above that line your gpu will start malfunctioning. You have this issue since day 1 of acquiring the card? There's a possibility that your gpu is faulty. I assume you have your video drivers all set up right. Else you could uninstall the drivers manually via device manager, and have a fresh instal after. That out, you could try disabling or enabling v-sync in your nvidia settings. If that also doesn't cut it, try different monitor/connectors like hdmi. Generally you don't want to use VGA specially on high res. Looks blurred too!

yes, the problem is here since day 1 (at least i think so), the drivers are all up to date

today i will try to connect my pc to my flat-screen TV through hdmi and see what happens, maybe its the vga connection

update: i have connected my tv to my pc through hdmi, and the problem seems to disapear.

i have tried msi kombustor for stress test and bf3 as a gpu heat up, and the problem isnt there :D

frequency of the tv is the same as of the monitor (60 hz), but the resolution is different (monitor -1920*1080, tv-1280*768)
