I just finished installing a custom liquid cooling loop on my PC and there were no hiccups, the problem is that for some reason Windows will no longer boot. POST goes ok then the EFI shell and UEFI interface both work just fine but when I boot past UEFI I hit a different Windows boot error every other time, the only similarity is that they all say "Your PC couldn't start properly" and all say that some startup file or registry entry is missing or corrupt. I have had errors like 0xc0000098, 0xc0000098 and 0xc0000001. I have a legal copy of Windows 8.1 Pro x64 and don't have recovery media, so I borrowed a USB recovery drive from a friend of mine who has the same version of Windows but when I tried to boot off of that I get the error that winload.efi isn't there. Not sure what to do so just any steps to get started would help.

Solution
go the bios, load optimal defaults then,
look for the HDD controller and set it to AHCI.
change boot priority to cd/usb
save and exit

then try again
