Hello,

I uploaded the sound my HDD is making here:
http://youtu.be/T1zQ6krvhK0

Would love to hear your opinion of what this sounds like.

I pulled out the HDD from the computer and connected with an external enclosure, but no success.

The hard drive sticker has
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 400GB
ST3400820AS
P/N: 9BJ134-621
Firmware 3.AHG

Any help would be much appreciated along with advice on how to recover the data.

Have a great day,

Dee

Hello, and thank you for your reply. The HDD has already failed. I was just wondering what the cause of it was and if someone could determine whether its stiction, or something else?

I can't access your sound file, but buzzing or beeping often indicates stiction (heads stuck to platters) or a seized spindle motor.

Here is a video demonstration by a SalvationData trainer:

Note that the procedure would normally be done in a cleanroom, and the person would be wearing gloves.

Send it to a drive repairing shop or company. They often have their special ways to rescue data there.
