My motherboard sound is broken and i need to replace it. I have windows 7 OEM and was wondering if I get the same motherboard I have in my current system if the key will still be valid or if I will need to purchase a new windows 7 key...

Also if i clear my HDD completely will make my key valid again?

Sorry im little new to the computer world and would appreciate the help.

If you get the same motherboard, you might not even have to reinstall W7, meaning yes, you key would still be valid.

Even if you had to reinstall, you can wipe the HDD during the W7 installation and you can still re-use the key. Though you might have to go through Microsoft's phone activation, but you'd still be able to have a functioning computer.

You're almost certainly fine. While true that a Win7 OEM is licensed to that first motherboard, a broken motherboard is grounds for a reactivation.
As noted above, you might have to go through the phone robot, but that's pretty easy.
