psu doesnt fit 2 gpus

Hi basically i decided to get another gpu. I originally had a sapphire 7970 vapor x 3gb edition and iv just gotten another one. Though the original one i had has 2 x 8 pin pci e slots and thw newer one has 1 x 8 pin and a 6 pin. This is not the main issue just strange. I have the gold corsair 850 ax psu fully modular and it cant fit(with my other cables) another pci e cable into the psu?

I literally have no clue what iv done then.. iv ran it with the wiring for about a year now and the only difference now is an extra pcie cabke but i cant get the joined cable to fit. If i had a cable that split into 2 6s it woukd fit

Wow, I am receiving my first semi modular power supply in a couple of days so I don't even know what to say. Sorry.

Is it possible to shift things around so that 2 of the 6 pins spaces are next to one another? I have no idea.
