Hi everyone,

I was thinking about buying a new computer display after my screen started flickering. Then I though why not to buy a 32 LED Full HD TV instead. I've found an offer in a local seller, for a 32 LED TV. However my dad has an 32 LCD Full HD TV, and he wants to buy a new bigger one, so he offered me to take it instead of buying a new one. my questions are as follows:
1.Is there any difference between a full-hd led tv and a computer screen that will make me regret buying a tv instead?
here is the tv specs for the LED tv I'm talking about:

2. Are LED TVs better for the eyes, for long day use?

I appreciate your help/advise.
Thanks

There are some differences between the two. TV's usually have a bit more lag than computer screens, this doesn't really matter on a big screen unless your gaming on it, but on a computer it can cause some headaches. Also computer screens look sharper to the eye because the pixels are much closer to each other than on a TV even with the same resolution. I would say the quality of the screen and the environment you use it in affects your eyes more than anything else.

Thanks for your answer, so there is no reason to buy a computer display over a LED TV other than the cost/size..?

Sorry for not explaining well enough, my dads TV is an LCD, so does the LED vs LCD really matters for the eyes comfort? is a LED tv better for the eyes?

I don't think lcd vs led really matters that much. There are a lot of layers of plastic and other materials in a monitor diffusing the light from the edges to get even lighting such that the light source itself ends up not mattering a whole lot. It'd just be your personal preference really. I use a 21" monitor and 2 26" tv's as monitors and they all look the same to me in terms of eye fatigue.

It comes down to how you are going to use it and how far away you are going to be from the screen.

a 32" tv as a monitor for internet and microsoft office is going to not be as clear if it is within arm legnth away from you, from 5-7ft away it could look beter, assuming this is a higher end 32" that is 1080p and has 120hz refresh rate.

For gaming it will not be quite as fluent as a monitor, and will also be not as sharp if you are 2-3 feet away.

Well, I'm planing to put the TV in a good distance from me, use it as a tv, and as a computer screen. That's why I thought about a tv instead of a computer monitor in the first place.

Thanks to all of you for your help. I will try my fathers LCD, if it is not good enough I will check the other options. My main concern with the LCD versus led was the amounts of light it emits and that it may hurt the eyes for long day uses.

true, but it also depends on the quality you are used to. if you use a 4k monitor for years, then go to a 1080p, you will be like " oh yuck, this sucks!" but if you use a 768p monitor for years and then get a 1080p you will be like "This is freakin awesome!"

Not all LCD's have LED backlights. That's a recent innovation. Before we used CCFLs A.K.A. florescent lights on the borders of the screen. In my experience, if you have a problem with florescent lights in an office or building, you'll probably find discomfort from using a LCD with CCFL.
