I have a RadeonR7770 currently with 2 monitors. Im using the HDMI and the DVI along the same space as my current ports. I have recently acquired a free 3rd moniter, however it only supports vga, I then purchased another on of these:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168....
Im unsure as to why, however the 3rd monitor is not working(showing any signal) at all. Did I goof or is there something missing that i'm not seeing?

Thanks for any help in advance, and if you need more info let me know. I am completely unable to get the model of the Tv/monitor as there are no markings what so ever, however I do know that it is a magnavox.

First off you must go computer > dvi to vga adapter > vga cable > monitor
It will not work computer > dvi cable > adapter > monitor.

Many gpus only have one dvi-i capabile port (the i means it can become vga)

Also I have seen some gpus just disslike certian brands of adapters, and be perfectly fine with others.

I do have it set up the way mentioned before, however it wonders me why it would have only one capable port like that, but if thats the case ill try to find out

Most cards used to have one vga port on it, having one dvi-i port that can be dvi or vga is still more versaile then vga only.

Changing display ports is really simple and just have to rearrange your windows or nvidia/ati control panel and done.

I think you fail to see the problem. The moniter will be picked up when I replace my main monitor port with it, however when I plug it into my second port it wont work. wont be detected or anything

I get that it is not working when you plug it into your second port.
Because you did not specify the exact model of 7770 card you have I am assuming you have one with 1 hdmi, and 2 dvi ports. I am also assuming that the one dvi-port is dvi-i that is vga capabile, and the other is not dvi-i. You will need to move the original dvi monitor to the other unused dvi port, and then plug your new vga monitor with adapter into the dvi slot that is now open where your other monitor used to be. You will then just need to go into your windows or gpu specific control panel and move your displays around in there so it is the proper layout.

I was saying that in my last post that while both dvi ports being a dvi-vga combo port would be better, a single dvi-vga combo port is still more versatile then it being just a vga port like how the cards used to be.
