Hello all,

first of all, sorry if this is in the wrong category, if anyone knows where I should ask this I will
delete this thread and make a new one.
I am completely novice about building computers, my husband has build a desktop, but that was years ago and things have changed since then.....

here is what I am thinking buying:
1. ASUS Rampage IV Black Edition LGA 2011 Intel X79
(or the deluxe or the ASUS P9X79, I am not sure yet...because I don;t know which one I really need)
2. Intel Core i7-4820K Ivy Bridge-E 3.7GHz
3. Cooler Master HAF X Blue Edition - High Air Flow Full Tower
4. EVGA GeForce GTX 770 DUAL SuperClocked 4GB 256-bit
5. SAMSUNG 840 EVO MZ-7TE250BW 2.5" 250GB SATA
6. CORSAIR Dominator Platinum 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866
7. Seagate NAS HDD ST2000VN000 2TB 64MB Cache
8. CORSAIR Hydro Series H100i Extreme Performance
9. PC Power & Cooling Silencer Mk III Series 850W

what it confuses me is that I read the motherboard Rampage is for 2nd and 3rd generation Intel, same with the deluxe or pro or P9X79, but the processor that I want is a 4rth generation intel? but when I search at newegg.com motherboards for 4rth generation intel, I only see LGA 1150? not the 2011.
Did I miss something?

what I need
I am graphic designer, so I need something that will handle photoshop and illustrator FAST while I am answering emails and having more than 5 webpages open, while listening to music and have open my skype, did I mention FAST?
Time is money and my current laptop until it uploads photoshop, until to save my graphics until this or that, I waste a lot of time that I can use with a better computer.....
for now I really don't do any 3d graphics, maybe in the future, but not any time soon.

what I want to enjoy
gaming, I really don;t care to have it on ultra or the highest settings, at least not always, just to be able to play games without problems.

and I also make my own music so it would be nice for my set up to support professional audio consoles and programs.

other than that, for the most part of the day I work answering emails and making simple graphics, like invitations.... and after work I will watch a movie and play online star wars and Hitman, maybe some WOW as well.

Also, if anyone wonders, I have used for the last 6 years a Dell Inspiron, which I loved, I enjoy gaming even though it is not a gaming laptop, I enjoy making graphics and I have used this laptop more than I have been with my husband....it is time for me to make an upgrade and treat my self with something that I will enjoy....money for now is not a big issue, but I don;t want to spend more than 2400 dollars. I was going for 1900-2400 tops!

Thank you for reading, any input about compatibility especially about the motherboard and the intel will be highly appreciated!

Thanks,
Charis

I'd get something like this. Far, far faster CPU, the six core 2011. Your 4820 is only four core. This one is 50% faster.
You don't need a fancy motherboard, the LE is fine. Also the H100i is noisy. The Nocuta is a simpler air cooler that cools just as well.
I got your low profile ram so it will fit well under the cooler. I got a huge SSD so you can put most everything on there that you are working on at the moment for a real speed improvement.
The Sapphire Vapor-X R9 290 is far faster than the video card you had and the Sapphire runs very cool and silent. It can be overclocked to nearly 780ti speeds. The case is large and has a side fan that can blow cool air right on your video card. The power supply is top quality. Windows 7 because you want to do some work with this computer. ;)

I had Thor and intel 4930K as my first pick when I was making my list :) but I end up going up to 3K bill!
