I am looking at deciding between these two cards...

GTX 780 Lighning

GTX 780 Ti

Currently, the 780 Ti is a shellshocker deal on newegg, so I am honestly considering either the 780Ti or the 780. What would you recommend? Is there much of a performance difference between the lightning 780 and the twin-frozr 780 Ti as far as performance? (I don't see myself using it in cases over 1440 resolution in the next couple of years, but would like for my PC to last at least 4-5 years with minor upgrades)

Any suggestions on which card to go with? Along with this, I was also wondering what the quality of MSI's customer service was like when handling anything under warranty?

Solution
As far as cutsomer service in gaming cards EVGA has the best and i would get 780 and save the $150 or so and if you ever really need more performance just get a second 780 when prices drop.( you are buying pretty much the most expensive video card there is do you really need that ? )

Well the main reason I'm considering this 780 Ti is because it is only ~$50 more than the 780 lightning. I am looking for something where I can get great gaming performance, as well as a card that may be useful to utilize in computational software which does support GPU use for computations (such as CFD, FEM analysis, etc.).

I'm not sure where you are getting that they are the most expensive video cards, as there are the Quadros (though they are used more for workstation systems). I will note that I am trying to go for a workstation/gaming system together, however I do not have the budget anywhere near creating a workstation with a Quadro, nor could I justify that kind of cost.

Hopefully that answers your questions?

IF its only $50 difference get the 780 TI then and your set
but i checked you can get 780 for around $459 http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-video-card-gvn780oc3gdrev20

Solution
Do you use double precision? If so go with the Titan. If not, then get the 780ti. The 780 lightning isnt worth it, you're paying a lot more than a reference 780 just to be able to better overclock it, but it still won't be nearly as good as a regular referene 780ti.
