Intel vs. AMD build.

Hey. I'm new to the forum and about fairly new to computer building. I finished my computer build in October of 2013. And I was wondering what Intel CPU would be better than a AMD 8320 overall. I'm looking at an i7 CPU. But if an i5 will beat an AMD 8320 by at least 10-15% I'll go for it. My budget for my new build would be $600-700. I'm not sure at this point if I want to overclock. Also if it helps my ram is going to be minimum 8gb. For my GPU AMD R series.
My current build is:
CPU- AMD 8320 at 3.5ghz.
CPU cooler- cooler master hyper tx3.
MOBO- MSI 970a-g43
GPU- Gigabyte r7 260x 1gb
Case- Raidmax ATX-248NWU
Storage- 1tb 7200rmp toshiba
PSU- corsair 430 watt builder series 80+ bronze.
RAM- Unknown 8gb ddr3 1333 speed.
I always seem to be maxing out my CPU or ram on this. (I run servers for family/friends and encode videos)
So overall I'd like something better than this but with an Intel CPU. I originally though an i7-3770k or i7-4770k but I want to know what you guys and gals would choose since some of you have more experience than me. Sorry for the long post. And I'm not sure if this is under the right thread. So don't be harsh.
Thanks in advance.

Both i7-4770k and the i7-4790 are good but I feel like the 4770k would be better in the long run. The reason I say I may not overclock is because I've never used a good high priced Intel CPU yet.

The 4790 is just a refresh of the 4770k, its the same price.

Lol. I did have it overclock before my new GPU. I had it at 4.0ghz it never got to the point where it was too hot to run but as soon as I put the new GPU in it kept freezing. My old GPU was a Radeon 6570 2GB. I like this MOBO because it's good for starters like me because this was my first build. So I didn't need anything special. But the click bios was strange at first.

I would look into the Intel Xeon E3-1230 V3 3.3GHz Quad-Core Processor if I were you. It's the price of an i5, but it has the Hyperthreading technology of an i7. The only significant differences between it and the 4770k is that you can't overclock it and there is no onboard video. You can also use a slightly less expensive motherboard with that CPU. The only downside is that you'd be spending about $400 for only a 20%-30% improvement.

In my opinion, your build is good enough to keep for a while if you overclock your CPU and continue to upgrade less fundamental parts like RAM, SSD, and video card. In fact, putting your $500 toward a video card would be a major upgrade from your 260x. With that, you can get a gtx 780, which is a pretty damn powerful card. Your CPU would not bottleneck it much (if at all). And even if it does, it wouldn't be worth the cost of upgrading CPU and motherboard just to unlock a small percentage of the card's potential. The CPU you have will unleash almost everything a 780 has to offer, if not everything. If you like AMD, then you can also look in to the R9 290. It's on part with the 780 and within your price range. Point is, getting just a GPU will be a better use of your money than upgrading a CPU and motherboard.

I like the build I have now. It's just I'm always maxing everything out. (Except the GPU haven't found a game it can't handle yet.)
One of my friends wants my to build him a PC so I thought I'd sell him mine and build a new PC with an Intel CPU. Plus if I go with intel I can use Hackintosh with it.

This is my list for my next build I'd like to do. Got any pointers? (CPU wise)
