Hello, I was wondering if there is a program, or if it is even possible, to record a game while the game is minimized. I want to make timelapses but I don't want to not use my computer. So is that even possible?

I was able to get it working on my end by setting up a virtual display. Here's how I did it.

Right Click on you desktop and select "Screen Resolution", I then clicked on "Detect" and a few white boxes appeared. I selected one of the white boxes that represented my integrated GPU, opened the multiple displays drop down menu and selected "Try to connect anyway: on VGA" and clicked apply. Next I selected the new display (should be black) and opened the Multiple Monitors drop down again and selected "Extend Desktop to the display". Then I set the resolution to match my main monitor and hit apply again.

I launched the game and set it to windowed mode, dragged it to the virtual display with a small part of the window still visible on my...

I believe its possible with OBS. https://obsproject.com/

I just tested doing this with Minecraft, OBS was capable of recording what was going on but once the game is minimized it stops actively running. If you can get a game to run while minimized, OBS can record it.

Alternatively you can use a laptop or secondary pc if you have one. As long as what you use can record at around 1-5FPS it should work fine.

Alright, I will test it tomorrow to see if it works with EU4. I think this would be a welcome feature in fraps or Dxtory. Thanks.

I believe dxtory and fraps will work for this because your just capturing a window you cant see, but I only tested with OBS.

This might not work for you if you cant have a virtual display setup, but i believe that as long as you have unused video outputs you can do it atleast on windows 7.

If this wasnt very clear let me know and ill try to do a video of how to do it.
