Hi all,

Im a newbie of this website and OC as well. so I hoped that yll would kindly assist me on my current issue =) (and apologize if im posting at the wrong place)

Im currently using;

Processor : FX 8350 AMD

GPU : Sapphire Radeon HD 7850 2GB GDDR5

Liquid Cooler : Antec Kuhler 620

RAM : 16GB Corsair Performance RAM

Motherboard : ROG Crosshair V Formula-Z

Win 7 Ultimate 64bit

Issue; (this is the result for both CPU + GPU at the same time on the stress test I did yesterday for around 20mins)

1 – ive just OC my GPU upto the max that it can which is 1000 MHz Core Clock from the stock 860 MHz Core Clock but the temperature is around 50c on idle and 65c on load. so I was wondering if its normal or is it overheating?

2 – I haven’t OC my processor yet but I was thinking on OC either tonight or tomorrow night. Currently, the temperature is around 47c on idle and 65c on load. I understand that this is considered as not good right? And I wonder if it will get worse once ive OC as well?

3 – my CPU cooler the Kuhler 620, the radiator and tubing (both tubing) is warm instead of 1 cold and 1 warm. And theres nothing but hot air coming out of this fan instead of cool air Is there a way for me to repair this?

4 – currently my RAM is being utilized at only 8GB in my Win 7 ultimate 64bit . Is there a way for me to OC or change the setting so that I can fully utilize it to 16GB?

Prompt advice is highly appreciated!! Thanks a bunch in advance >_<

Well I'll try and help where I can.

1) Your GPU temperature seems pretty good. Most GPU's will run around 70-90 degrees C when fully loaded (depending on lots of factors).

2) 47c at idle and 65c on load doesn't seem too bad. I'm not sure what your room temperature is, so it's hard to say if this a ideal or realistic.

3) I'm not familiar with water cooling, but water cooling is usually a bit better than aftermarket air cooling, so I wouldn't be too concerned with your current temps, unless your room temperature is like 15c or some cold number.

4) Your RAM amount seems to wrong. I would pull both of your sticks out and re-seat them into the motherboard and see if your Mobo recognizes both sticks, because it seems that your Mobo doesn't recognize one of the sticks. You can try other slots and see if that helps too (refer to which slots to use in your mobo manual).

hey lunyone =D

1 - totally agree right i mean the GPU temp is quite not bad right..i mean it wouldnt go up more than that! >_<

2 - im from malaysia so my room temperature is quite hot which is around 35c-35c average =/ but i read from other forum saying that 60c is not good for FX series. the ideal is suppose to be around 40-50c average on load..but not sure on whether its true or not though =(

3 - well im using hydro cooling which is the Antec Kuhler 620 but the tubing are both hot instead of 1 hot and 1 cold. even the radiator is quite hot instead of cold

4 - yeah? is there any different in changing the slots ? i thought the slots are all the same? and how do you know if the mobo recognize it? and lastly, i read somewhere that the max capacity for Win 7 64bit is not more than 8GB RAM. is it true? is there a way to bypass the settings?

thanks again man =D

Well the temperatures that you have with a 35c room temperature are pretty good. I wouldn't worry too much about it. You can always pull the cooler off of the CPU and re-apply fresh thermal paste and see if that helps out.

As far as the radiator cool or not, it is pulling out as much heat from the CPU that it can, so it is going to be warm to hot, especially when the CPU is under load. You might not have good contact to the CPU, but I'm betting your room temperature is the cause of the elevated temperatures in general. I believe your doing pretty good with your temperatures overall (I'm not an expert on thermal temps, but it seems like you are fine).

Here is a link to Windows 7 64bit RAM capacities. If you have at least Home Premium than 16 gb's is the max.

i see..ok bout the thermal paste..i heard that you need to clear the old paste then you apply the new one right? and at the same time, you need to use an alcohol or something right? is it correct?

yeah maybe because of my room as well..but is there a way to make it colder? i mean im quite a heavy gamer and i usually play games like 6hours non stop or more most of the time..

im using Win 7 64bit Ultimate..but how come only 8GB is detected??? =/

Well yes you need to clean off the old paste with alcohol (not the drinkable type) and then re-apply new paste.

Your PC parts (CPU/GPU) should be able to stay stable below 80c without any issues. You can opt for other cooling options, but the system should shutdown way before you do any possible damage to the parts. If your OC'ing and locking in some of the controls, then I would be a bit concerned. But if your running at stock speeds and no funky tweaks in the BIOS, you should be okay.

So Windows isn't holding you back on your RAM, so I would pull your RAM out and inspect the RAM sticks and the slots that they were in. You can install 1 stick at a time and verify that the system recognizes each individual stick. Then put both in at the same time and see what happens (assuming the system recognized each individual set before).

Hell I even use rubbing alcohol or Isopropyl alcohol works well. You can get that at the local drug store for pretty cheap :)  Basically a de-greaser.

I tend to stick with the rubbing alcohol and isopropyl alcohol. I haven't used nail polisher before.
