random lock-up no bsod 64bit

i recently put together a new desktop, but it has been locking-up on me seemingly at random. there is no BSOD, it just becomes unresponsive, and if there is audio going on when it freezes it just blurts out an annoying constant noise. i have to reboot it through holding down the power button when this happens.

my computers specs:
intel i7-4770k
MSi z87-GD65 mobo
8 gb ddr3 ram (g skill) x2 4 gb sticks
x2 geforce GTX 760 running SLI
750w PSU
1 250 gb SSD
1 1TB HDD

i have updated all of the drivers, bios, and windows 7. i have ran ccleaner registry several times in a row, at several different times - it fixes many errors, though at present there are none.

i thought maybe the RAM was not seated correctly, and when i took one of the sticks out the computer was running fine for a couple of days without issue - i sent the RAM back and got a replacement, since when i switched sticks the computer froze instantly. however, the computer has still locked-up in the same fashion regardless of which RAM sticks i have in it now. i have ran the memory tests for a day or so, and found no errors. i have also tried changing which slots the sticks are in (the mobo guide said i should seat them in DIMM2 and DIMM4 for a 2 stick setup, so that is how it is arranged) but it doesn't seem to affect anything.

i also verified the windows files, and they are all intact, no corruption. i then thought perhaps the PSU wasn't enough, so i took out one of the GPUs. however, it has still locked-up. i thought then maybe things were overheating, but everything sits at about 35 degrees, only going up to about 50 or so during intensive gaming - seems normal.

i checked event viewer, and it has a critical kernel-power error 41 (63) each time it freezes. typically the computer will freeze once i open up a live stream on twitch.tv through firefox nightly, but it can happen while idling as well. i started the computer up in safe mode with networking, and it seemed to run fine. it's very annoying that the desktop will run for hours at a time with or without safe mode, and then just randomly locks-up.

i'm at my wits end on what could be wrong. i fear it might be the mobo itself, which would be a huge pain to replace. i'm not exactly sure though. what else can i try, or what more information can i supply to help figure out this issue?

thanks for reading, i hope you can help.

the RAM is G.Skill Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory.

i did have the XMP profile enabled, but checking again after your post it was disabled. i've enabled it again, so i'll see if it locks-up again. would be nice if that was the issue.

thanks for the reply.
